Topic   : Clan Names in Swaziland

Sub-topic: The Fragmentation of Clans

Lesson Aim: to make learners appreciate the fragmentation of clans in Swaziland

Lesson Objectives: by the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

I) define clan and Fragmentation

ii) identify clans that fragmented

iii) explain why the clans fragmented

iv) justify whether it was neccesaary for the clans to fragment.

 

Teaching methods: Question and answer, group discussions

Teaching Aids    : textbook and family tree diagrams

Teacher ask the learners to name any clans thmoderateand also group them according to their relationship.
Teacher asks the learners to define the terms; clan and fragmentation
Learners names the clans they know and group them according to how their are related.

Will use tree diagrams presented by the teacher
LESSON PRESENTATION
Stage 1
 
10:23-10:35
Ask learners to identify clans that are a result of fragmentation and explain why they have fragmented
In groups of 5, learners discuss the clans that fragmented and explain why.
Will use charts to show diagrams
Stage 2

Teacher asks learners to report back their findings.
Teacher builds up learners' responses and jot down the main points on the board.
Learners report their findings to the class according to their groups.
They write down the main points as presented by the teacher.
 
Conclusion
 
 
10:53-11:00
Teacher emphasises on the main clans that are found in Swaziland and how they fragmented
Pupils copy the notes and justify whether they would have fragmented or not.
 

 

LESSON EVALUATION

Work planned was successfully covered. The objectives were achieved. The group discussions went well as learners easily identified the clans which are a result of fragmentation.

 

TEACHER EVALUATION
The teacher managed the group discussions very well. Lesson pacing was moderate, hence, teacher managed time very well. Teacher managed to involve learners but at times got carried away with learners' q
